Whitetail Symposium
ArchivedFish and Wildlife Service
Description
The Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) is uniquely qualified for this award. QDMA's own staff is the most comprehensive single collection of whitetail deer experts in the world. In addition, through its work with state agencies, health labs, academics, corporations, and landowners, QDMA has unequalled access to a more extensive network of experts and stakeholders relevant to whitetail deer management. This award requires QDMA to use those networks to establish an agenda and participant buy-in for a first-ever national symposium on whitetail deer. This symposium is of vital interest to the National Wildlife Refuge System which manages 426 refuges totalling 10 million acres within the range of whitetail deer. In addition, QDMA has unique communication systems, both web-based and print, which can be used to organize this symposium, engage participants, and communicate outcomes.
