NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD This Funding Announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service (NPS), intention to fund the following project activities. ABSTRACT Funding Announcement: P11AT30895 Project Title: Understanding Change: How communities perceive climate change at a local level Recipient: University of Alaska Fairbanks Principle Investigator: F.S. (Terry) Chapin, Professor of Ecology Total Anticipated Award Amount: $33,354. Cost Share: N/A New Award Or Continuation: New Anticipated Length of Agreement: 2 Years Anticipated Period of Performance: September 30, 2011 � September 30, 2013 Award Instrument: Cooperative Agreement Statutory Authority: 16 U.S.C. �1(g): The National Park Service may in fiscal year 1997 and thereafter enter into cooperative agreements that involve the transfer of National Park Service appropriated funds to State, local and tribal governments, other public entities, educational institutions, and private nonprofit organizations for the public purpose of carrying out National Park Service programs pursuant to section 6305 of title 31 to carry out public purposes of National Park Service programs. CFDA#: 15.945 Substantial Cooperation and Involvement by NPS NPS will provide feedback on project development and suggestions regarding interview scripts. NPS will help to organize and host preliminary meetings in rural subsistence communities and will assist to link researchers with subsistence community members. In addition, park staff will provide relevant resources and documents that might inform the research, such as prior reports, research and documentation of climate change impacts.
