Description

To foster the development of a diverse and highly trained workforce of behavioral scientists to assume leadership roles related to the Nations research efforts in the area of type 1 diabetes, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) invites applications for the establishment of institutional career development programs in diabetes research for behavioral scientists.The NIDDK will award K12 grants to eligible institutions to provide a program to prepare postdoctoral behavioral scientists (referred in this FOA as Scholars), selected by the institution, for behavioral research careers in type 1 diabetes. At each stage of the training award, supervision and mentorship will include both a diabetologist and a behavioral scientist as a way to maximize the relevance of the training to type 1 diabetes and encourage a multi-disciplinary approach to research.
