Modification of Contract for Establishment of Environmental Water Rights Transaction program for the Rio Grande

Description
This announcement is for US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) San Andres National Wildlife Refuge (SANWR), New Mexico, Region 2, FY 2012. The purpose of this Grant Agreement is to modify the existing agreement covering the establishment of the Rio Grande Water Rights Transactions Program with the focus on the Canalization Reach of the Rio Grande from Caballo Dam south to the New Mexico State line. This modification will enable financial assistance grant agreements with two local irrigation districts. The objective is to purchase water rights to use for wildlife and habitat restoration on the Rio Grande in southern New Mexico. This project will benefit the public by making water available for native habitat restoration to benefit endangered species, improve management of wetland and riparian habitats and promote healthy ecosystems.
