Description

This funding opportunity is designed to support networking and association-building among men and women in a variety of fields, including public service, academia, private industry, and civil society. Activities can include, but are not limited to, networking receptions, working groups, conferences and symposia, media outreach, use of communications technologies, mentorship projects, research (including market research for business associations), and trainings, or any combination of the above. Applicants should demonstrate that they have or can build the capacity to carry out proposed activities; proposals to establish new associations should demonstrate the linkage between activities and increased membership. The focus of projects funded under this grant opportunity should be on activities that clearly empower groups and associations in a variety of roles, including advocacy, information-sharing, and collaboration among like organizations. The budget for administrative costs, especially salaries, should be minimal; however, reasonable expenses for equipment, technical support, and staff will be considered. Potential grantees are encouraged to seek out relationships with other national and international organizations that can help build the capacity of nascent associations. Letters of support from such prospective partners should be included in the grant application package. A clearly outlined sustainability plan, demonstrating commitment to private sector fundraising and the establishment of membership fees, should be included. Associations that specifically target the development of women’s networks will receive strong preference for funding. Associations that do not include women will not be considered.
