ArchivedBureau of Population Refugees and Migration
Description
Limited funding is available to support NGOs working with UNHCR in Burkina Faso, Mauritania, and Niger to respond to assistance and protection needs of Malian refugees. Proposed activities should support Malian refugee assistance and protection in refugee camps and/or host communities. Proposals should prioritize emergency needs focusing on food security, primary health care, water and sanitation, education, shelter, and prevent/response to gender-based violence. NGOs applying for funding must demonstrate a working relationship with UNHCR, current UNHCR funding, and/or a letter of support from UNHCR for the proposed activities and/or the overall program. Priority will be given to proposals from organizations that can demonstrate (1) a proven track record in providing the proposed assistance, (2) evidence of coordination with international and non-governmental organizations working in the same area, and (3) appropriate targeting of beneficiaries in coordination with UNHCR. For projects addressing refugees in host communities, at least fifty percent of the beneficiaries must be refugees.
