The FMCSA Border Enforcement Grants (BEG) program provides funds to ensure that motor carriers and drivers operating commercial motor vehicles (CMV) entering the United States (U.S.) from a foreign country are in compliance with U.S. CMV safety standards and regulations, financial responsibility regulations, and registration requirements. Drivers of those vehicles must be qualified and properly licensed to operate a CMV in the U.S. Pursuant to 49 U.S.C. 31107, eligible awardees for BEG funding include governments of States that share a land border with Canada or Mexico, and any local government or entity in that State (e.g., accredited post-secondary public or private educational institutions such as universities).   • Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
  • Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
  • Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized)
  • Nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status (other than higher education)
