Description

Wildfire kills lichen that grow on petroglyph panels, deterioration of the petroglyphs is accelerated because the lichen has already damaged the rock surface. Removal of the lichen pits the rock face. Assessments of the post fire condition of the lichen are needed to determine which petroglyph panels require treatment and what treatments should be applied to lessen the fire damage.
