Description
The objective is to obtain the needed scientific and technical assistance through the Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit concept to improve management and stewardship of the nation's public lands. Complex issues that transcend boundaries make it essential for agencies to work together. The word cooperative emphasizes that multiple federal agencies and universities are among the partners in this program. Ecosystem studies involve the biological, physical, social and cultural sciences needed to address complex resource issues, which include both natural and cultural resources.
