ArchivedBureau of Ocean Energy Management
Description
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's (BOEM) Environmental Studies Program (ESP) is offering a cooperative agreement opportunity to conduct research in topics that serve the public interest of safe and environmentally sound energy and mineral production on the nation's outer continental shelf. The proposed study is entitled, "Cook Inlet Circulation Model Calculations." The purpose of this study is to develop up-to-date ocean circulation hindcast model simulations for the area of Cook Inlet, Shelikof Strait and adjacent portions of the Gulf of Alaska using a state of the science general circulation model. This study will provide the scientific information needed by the State of Alaska, the Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Committee and other stakeholders to understand and mitigate potential impacts associated with development of offshore energy resources. This opportunity is available for competition among the following Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units (CESU) organizations only: University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) (Californian CESU), University of Alaska-Fairbanks (North and West Alaska CESU), or Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (North Atlantic Coast CESU).
