Description

Develop an assessment of the North Fork of the Flathead River (Canadian and US portions) focusing particularly on the effects of logging roads on aquatic habitats and on other erosion processes. The deliverables include (1) create a digital landscape for the Canadian portion of the North Fork of the Flathead River (approximately 390,000 acres) including an attributed, analytic stream layer derived from digital elevation models, 2) conduct an assessment of the road networks including road drainage diversion, road surface erosion, road stability, and roads in floodplains, and (3) conduct an overview analysis of other erosion processes, specifically those driven by slope steepness and convergence.
