Description

This would be a continuation from Agreement L08AC13704 which expired September 30, 2013 with Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee DTPC. The DTPC will provide a Naturalist in the spring to provide environmental education to visitors at the DTNA. Public outreach helps the BLM manage the federally listed desert tortoise. BLM along with DTPC would assist with maintenance of an Interpretive Center and provision of living quarters to the Naturalist. The BLM will assist in defining the duties of the Naturalist and will be substantially involved in major decisions. BLM will provide storage of the Discovery Center motor home when it is not at the DTNA. BLM will ensure compliance with regulations at the DTNA by providing a law enforcement ranger to patrol the area. The public benefits by receiving information about the desert tortoise and the Mojave desert ecosystem when visiting the DTNA.
