Description

The USGS would like to fund the study of marina safety and risk reduction due to the Tsunami Scenario and other teletsunamis that could affect the west coast of California. The Tsunami Scenario, generated from a hypothetical but realistic M~9.0 earthquake offshore of the Alaska Peninsula, is being updated for emergency planning. As with each prior MHDP/SAFRR (Science Application for Risk Reduction) scenario, the USGS is partnering with a variety of agencies to explore the most important implications of a distant tsunami disaster and opportunities to better prepare them and reduce their vulnerability.
