LAC Reads Capacity Program
ArchivedAgency for International Development
Description
The purpose of the LAC Reads Capacity Program is to increase the impact, scale, and sustainability of early grade reading interventions in the LAC region through the development of state-of-the-art knowledge resources and the provision of technical assistance to host country governments, and other selected key stakeholders, to enhance their efforts to boost early grade reading outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged children. Working in collaboration with USAID’s bilateral missions, the program will facilitate stakeholder understanding and application of evidence-based, context appropriate, approaches to improving early grade reading. The LAC Reads Capacity program is one component of the LAC Reads Project, which is managed by the Education Team of the Regional Sustainable Development Office of the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC/RSD/EDU). The overall aims of the LAC Reads Capacity Program will be:• increased awareness of effective evidence-based practices that increase early-grade reading achievement by ministries of education and other key stakeholders;• increased demand for effective evidence-based practices that increase early-grade reading achievement by ministries of education and other key stakeholders; and• increased capacity to integrate the use of effective evidence-based practices that increase early-grade reading achievement by ministries of education and other key stakeholders.
