Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Western Geographic Science Center (WGSC) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research on a conceptual framework and a portfolio of multi-scalar, multi-sector, comparative metrics to assess socio-ecological vulnerability to established coastal-change hazards on the U.S. northeast coast from North Carolina to New York. This research will be used to support the identification of hotspots of community vulnerability to dune erosion, inundation regimes, and overwash potential related to typical annual winter storms, nor¿easter storms, and category 1-4 hurricanes for coastal communities. The project goal will be to develop and implement a spatially-explicit framework for assessing and communicating variations in community vulnerability to coastal-change hazards that can support strategic sciences at the U.S. Department of the Interior.
