Description

The USGS Canyonlands Research Station (CRS) of the Southwest Biological Science Center (SBSC) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research on assessing the plant, soil, and biogeochemical effect of increased nitrogen deposition in the Southwest. The goal of this program is to provide scientific insight into the potential consequences of changes in dryland ecosystems, particularly Mesa Verde National Park, associated with increased nitrogen deposition. The objectives include 1) determine how increased nitrogen inputs affect native plant abundance; 2) assess the effects of nitrogen deposition on the invasion success of Bromus tectorum; and 3) consider how these effects could translate into changes in fire regime.
