Twelve zebra-tail lizards were first translocated to the Diamond Creek dune area along the Colorado River on the Hualapai Reservation in April, 2012 after a nearly 30 year absence. Monthly monitoring that followed the translocation effort found a variable number of zebra-tails present with verification of successful reproduction in 2013. Because the number of lizards found on the monthly monitoring surveys was so variable, the Hualapai feel it is important to continue the monthly surveys in 2014 to better document the success or failure of the translocation effort. If few zebra-tails are found in 2014, a second translocation effort may be warranted, and discussions as to ways to improve the success of the translocation effort would be justified in the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Technical Work Group meetings.
