Description

The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to elucidate exposure and potential adverse effects of environmental contaminants to wildlife in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. The region includes two large estuaries, the Chesapeake Bay and the Delaware Bay, that provide critical wildlife habitat to biota. Numerous species of waterbirds and raptors depend on this habitat for breeding or as critical stopover sites during migration. It is well-recognized that agriculture, industry, and urbanization are significant point and non-point pollution sources that affect the quality of these estuaries (USGS 2012, Delaware Estuary Program 2012).
