Description

The US Geological Survey, Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center (NOROCK), is offering a funding opportunity to explore long-term monitoring on federal lands for assessing resource condition (status) and documenting declines in condition over time as related to management actions and climate change. To that end, the Center is interested in exploring statistical methods for sampling design development and recommendations on statistical methods for estimating status and trends in a robust and statistically sound manner. Simulation studies may be required to explore the effects of design misspecification for ratio estimators, effects of detection bias on ratio estimators for blister rust prevalence in whitebark pine, or sample size calculations under different sampling designs for ecological indicators of interest. In addition, the Center may explore trend modeling of complex survey data typically encountered in programs attempting to collaborate and integrate across geographic boundaries.
