Description

This project seeks to interpret ancient subsistence strategies at archeological sites in the NPS Southeast Region. This study will assist the park(s) in fulfilling their National Historic Preservation Act, Section 110 obligations to document archeological sites and determine their eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The findings of this project will lay the groundwork for nominations to the NRHP. Specifically, this project will develop a better understanding of past lifeways, human diets, landscape transformation, and how past populations interacted with natural resources. The Southeast Archeological Center (SEAC) and partner Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) will target key sites in the southeastern U.S. for archeological investigation.
