Description

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) in Tanzania mainland is to strengthen the centrally coordinated national transfusion service so as to ensure that adequate safe blood and blood products are available and accessible to transfusing health facilities. It is expected that the following FOA objectives will be met by the end of 5 Year: • Improved supply of safe blood and blood products at the level of transfusion facilities attained through increased safe repeat blood donors and components production • Improved quality of blood and blood products through increased safe donor pool and adherence to blood safety quality standards • Attained accreditation for all 6 zonal centers as a result of improved adherence to blood safety standards • Improved program ownership and sustainability as a result of increased staff retention, and program funding from non PEPFAR sources
