Grant for curatorial services to the State of New Mexico, Department of Cultural Affairs for the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and, Laboratory of Anthropology (MIAC)
ArchivedBureau of Reclamation
Description
The Bureau of Reclamation generates collections of archeological materials and records in accordance with multiple federal laws. Following 36 CFR 79, these federal properties must be curated by a repository or museum meeting the Department of the Interior standards. The Museum of Indian Arts and Cultures meets these standards, as well as those of the American Association of Museums. The museum has curated the collections from Navajo Reservoir since the 1950s, because under the terms of the original agreements between the United States and the Museum, they were stipulated to “retain” the Collections.
