Description
The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in the analysis and modeling of hydrology and salinity dynamics in vadose zone and it relationship to the health of coastal baldcypress swamps. Questions of major interest over the next decades include (1) can lowered tree health along rivers such as the Neches be related to salinity levels in the vadose zone, (2) can modeled changes in surface hydrology and water management be used to offset harmful levels of salinity during drought or following salinity intrusion events to offset declines of tree production and survivorship.
