Description

a. Objective. The purpose of the Cooperative Agreement is to construct shoreline stabilization measures as provided in the existing design (Appendix 2) to provide stone revetment to restore the shoreline along the eastern shoreline of NAS PAX. These measures could include installing erosion control measures, debris remove land reworking existing broken concrete. Specifically, the work shall construct the Navy-approved and permitted final design for shoreline restoration. In addition, the Cooperator shall maintain the necessary Federal and State permits and coordinate with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (US FWS), Maryland State Historic Preservation Office (MD SHPO) and all other required regulatory agencies to facilitate the repair to the shoreline at NAS Patuxent River.b. Environmental Setting. The main shoreline that requires restoration is south of themouth of Goose Creek (as shown in the provided design drawings) and isapproximately 300 LF. Several Puritan tiger beetle (Cicindela puritan) coloniesoccur in the vicinity of the NAS Patuxent River; however, there are no Puritantiger beetle colonies known to occur within the installation (environmentalassessment (EA) attached). There are no known active Munitions Response Siteswithin the project area. Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MECs) have notbeen found and are not expected at these sites. However, if seen, the contractorshould follow the three Rs, Recognize, Retreat, and Report.
