Description

The U.S. Embassy New Delhi is requesting proposals for a program that would engage American jazz artists in India in February or March 2016. Through this program, the Embassy seeks to celebrate and strengthen the cultural connection between India and the United States through the medium of jazz music. The recipient will include at least one American musician or, or a production company of American, or mixed composition, with an emphasis on American jazz music that includes traditional jazz that pays tribute to its African-American roots. The primary objective of the program will be to participate in the 2016 “Delhi International Jazz Festival,” which is organized annually by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The dates for the 2016 event have not yet been finalized, but in previous years, this festival has been held in February and March. The grantee must be available during the finalized dates for the 2016 festival. Other performances may include an intimate affair with a select audience, or a medium-sized audience at a space such as the American Center in New Delhi. In previous years the ICCR also has sent participating bands to a second city in India. The applicant needs to be prepared to do this. (Please refer full announcement).
