Archived

Fish and Wildlife Service

Description

This is a single source determination to award to Virginia Tech. The project includes investigations to evaluate red fox abundance, density, distribution, productivity, and habitat use from inlet to inlet under varied management regimes (e.g., exclusive use of predator exclosures vs. exclosure use and predator removal) and piping plover demographics and habitat use throughout the FIMI and Fire Island as a whole. The monitoring efforts will provide a scientific evaluation of the effectiveness of the management and habitat maintenance and restoration efforts within the FIMI project area and Fire Island, as a whole.
