Description

Projects for young adults to learn about: natural resources, wildlife biology, field research, wildlife monitoring, endangered species, conservation of sensitive species, recreation management, outreach efforts, public contact, public tours, school presentations, assist in education center, wilderness management, cultural resources management, NEPA process and management of public lands. These interns will be given opportunities for work experience with Carrizo Plain National Monument and be involved in hands-on conservation land management. The interns will gain knowledge and experience and Carrizo Plain National Monument will be provided on-the-ground assistance in land management projects. Carrizo Plain National Monument staff will mentor the interns. The organization selected will coordinate the mentoring program with BLM. To provide young adults a safe, educational job experience to better prepare them for entering the workforce and by exposing them to a variety of work experiences, basic skills training and a structured work environment about public land natural resources management. This will provide long-term benefits by providing academic and environmental education opportunities for young adults.
