Upper Midwest and Great Lakes Landscape Conservation Cooperative
ArchivedFish and Wildlife Service
Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), Midwest Region, intends to issue a Single Source Cooperative Agreement Award without competition to the Great Lakes Fishery Commission (Commission) to support a Strategic Aquatic Habitat Connectivity Coordinator (Strategic Coordinator) for an Aquatic Habitat Connectivity Collaborative (Collaborative) established under the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes Landscape Conservation Cooperative (UMGL LCC). The UMGL LCC steering committee approved $60,000 in LCC funds to support the Commission in hosting the position and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation has directed an equal amount to the Commission. The Commission has a statutory basin-wide and bi-national fisheries coordination role and a long history of building strong relationships with fisheries managers in the region through their coordination and support of the various Lake Committees, and they also have been central to the discussions and decisions made over aquatic habitat connectivity for many years. No other organization has this combination of expertise, relationships, geographic coverage, and mission.
