Applicants are encouraged to review the entire Integrating Community Health APS (APS-OAA-15-000004) in addition to the following community health worker specific information included below. The focus of this Addendum is to improve population health by increasing effective coverage of high impact health and nutrition interventions through: addressing barriers to scaling up and sustaining high quality CHW programming. USAID seeks Applicants to play a substantive role in helping foster better harmonization by addressing fragmentation of CHW programming, identifying knowledge gaps in planning and implementation of CHW programs, and translating new knowledge to influence decisions and actions from the community to the national policy and program levels. Applicants are strongly encouraged to identify barriers and solutions by applying a joint community-health systems focus. Emphasis should be placed on strengthening community engagement with CHW programs to enhance their performance and impact. Applicants are encouraged to utilize this Addendum to: • Support governments and their partners in identifying the most critical barriers impacting the scale and sustainability of high quality CHW programming; • Develop local and national capacity and leadership to institutionalize a data-driven problem identification-solution approach in CHW programming; and, • Document the actions and activities taken to identify and overcome barriers; the impact that these actions had on CHW performance; and, the broader influence and impact on policies, systems, and programs.
