Description

This research project will accomplish the following. Establish research sites in the area of historic Reclamation herpetofauna study. Summarize the historic Reclamation field study and compare to current herpetofauna community. Compare the current riparian forest to historical Reclamation field study. Evaluate riparian sites for habitat suitability for the threatened northern Mexican garter snake. Characterize structural and provisioning attributes of the riparian forest at the confluence of the Gila and San Pedro River in developing a herpetofauna index. Field data will be collected at the confluence of Gila and San Pedro Rivers in southern Arizona, approximate Lat / Long: 32° 59’ N, 110° 47.5’ W. Analysis and write-up will be conducted at Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University.
