Description

The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to work in close partnership with USGS to assess chytrid fungus (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis - Bd) on the endangered mountain yellow-legged frog (Rana muscosa). The CESU partner will analyze swab samples through qPCR techniques to answer questions regarding prevalence and intensity of Bd within frog populations and across multiple years and seasons. This data will provide useful information to evaluate the stability and susceptibility of the remaining populations of R. muscosa. The recipient will be integral in providing the protocol for proper sampling techniques, in addition to analyzing the samples provided. The USGS will provide the tools and personnel required for sampling frogs for Bd. Together the USGS and recipient will refine sampling techniques and protocols, if needed.
