Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) intends to make a single-source award to the Caddo Lake Institute to support the Caddo Lake Environmental Flows Project (hereafter CFP). The Caddo Lake Institute has agreed to implement priority aspects of the projects monitoring plan. This Scope of Work, to be funded by USACE SRP funds, details the work beginning on or about January 1, 2016. The work will include: 1) collecting and analyzing data from existing vegetation plots on Big Cypress Bayou and adding collection of herb-tree seedling data in existing plots; 2) validating the duration of inundation needed to gain certain ecological benefit of floodplain forest inundation by flow pulses; and, 3) synthesizing data from vegetation plot, soil moisture monitoring and any aerial photography to determine the number and timing of pulses needed to restore and protect wetlands and other floodplain vegetation.
