Radiochemistry Summer School
ArchivedIdaho Field Office
Description
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is for an undergraduate summer school program in radiochemistry. This summer school will focus on training undergraduates in the fundamentals of radiochemistry with an emphasis on the nuclear fuel cycle, with an emphasis on the back end of the fuel cycle. Only a handful of universities exist where students can work with and study radionuclides. This has had a negative impact on our Nation’s ability to solve national challenges related to radiochemistry. The Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. nuclear industry have mission-critical workforce needs in this field. The Department has a responsibility to create and enhance the training opportunities for the next generation of radiochemists. To meet these needs DOE purposes this funding opportunity for the implementation of a radiochemistry summer school program that will provide undergraduate students an opportunity to receive additional training in this field.
