Description

This project will entail three distinct phases. In the first phase, 30 alumni of past madrassa English teacher training programs will be recruited to participate in the current program. Working in coordination with the RELO, the implementing partner will develop participant selection criteria and schedule candidate interviews. After a final participant list is confirmed with the GOR, for the second phase of the project, the implementing partner will coordinate a one-week face-to-face training-of-trainers (ToT) course for the selected alumni. For the third phase of the project, the implementing partner will procure 240 seats in National Geographic Learning’s ELTeach online course. (ELTeach is a professional development, assessment and certificate course developed jointly by National Geographic Learning and Educational Testing Service, applicable to both pre-service and in-service teachers who work in the public and private sectors. It contains two strands: English-for-Teaching and Professional Knowledge for ELT. Participants in the current project will complete both strands.) Each alumnus/alumna will be allocated four seats in each strand – one for him/herself and three for fellow teachers. During this phase of the project, alumni will be responsible for facilitating their fellow teachers’ online learning experiences and performance. The implementing partner will provide support for these facilitated sessions and track participant performance in each strand. For the fourth and final phase of the project, the implementing partner will organize a two-day culminating workshop for the 30 original alumni and their 90 peer English teachers. During this workshop, participants will share feedback on their experiences in the online course and develop individual professional development plans.The implementing partner will be responsible for coordinating all phases of the project, including (a) participant recruitment, selection, travel, and lodging; (b) rental of training venue; (c) correspondence with project participants, their madrassa directors, local educational authorities, and other concerned parties; (d) procurement of ELTeach seats/licenses from National Geographic Learning; (e) procurement of other necessary training materials, stationery, etc.; and (f) other project logistics, as required.
