Resource Management Plans in the BLM Anchorage District Office have numerous goals and monitoring objectives for sensitive plant species, invasive species, and general vegetation management issues. By partnering with an organization that has such capacity, BLM is better positioned to meet management goals and objectives, while also providing academic opportunity for young professionals and furthering the mission of partner organizations in the North and West Alaska Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU). Previously, the invasive species occurrences and rare plant occurrences have been catalogued statewide by a CESU organization â¿¿ the Alaska Center for Conservation Science, an institute at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. The four Resource Management Plans that guide management decisions in the Anchorage District Office (Bay, Kobuk-Seward, Ring of Fire, and East Alaska) each describe management and monitoring goals for BLM sensitive plant species, invasive species, and overall vegetation management.
