Description
U.S. Geological Survey⿿s (USGS) Great Lakes Science Center is offering a funding opportunity for research on ⿿Examination of Factors Influencing Lake Whitefish Recruitment in the Detroit River and Western Lake Erie.⿝ This research will provide insight about the mechanisms influencing lake whitefish recruitment in the Detroit River and western Lake Erie by measuring the vital rates of spawners, eggs, and larvae who rely on this system. These types of information are critical to identifying and understanding ecological interactions within the SCDRS and western Lake Erie that regulate lake whitefish spawning, egg survival, and the distribution, abundance, growth, and survival of their larvae. Information gleaned from these studies will be used to guide management and restoration of fish populations and their habitats in the study areas.
