Description

The Department of Interior and its Bureaus implement strategies to mitigate the effects of wildfire and restore burned acres damaged by fire, support communities that are at high risk from wildfire by assisting in the development of wildfire action plans, and effectively use capabilities to respond quickly when fire strikes. Through this funding opportunity, the Bureau of Land Management Colorado (BLM-CO) seeks to accomplish hazardous fuels reduction activities on private lands adjacent to federal lands in an effort to reduce risk to resources on both federal and private lands from wildfire. Activities are being carried out by local private, nonprofit, youth and conservation groups partnering with state, local and federal agencies. By supporting projects such as hazard fuels reduction and community wildfire protection plans, BLM-CO seeks to reduce the risks posed by catastrophic wildfires to communities and critical infrastructure while enhancing public and firefighter safety.
