Notice of Intent to award a cooperative agreement to the University of Memphis to support the project entitled "Cooperative Research Between the USGS and the University of Memphis". The objective of this agreement is to provide technical cooperation between the USGS Lower Mississippi-Gulf (LMG) Water Science Center (WSC), Memphis Office, and the University of Memphis including access to office and laboratory space, data collection on surface and ground-water resources in Shelby County and the development of cooperative research in all aspects of stream habitat assessment, assist and demonstrate fish collection using fish shocker gear and nets; managing the ground-water resources in the Memphis area; sharing geology logs and expertise in ground penetrating radar; and information sharing with water resource issues such as flooding, channel morphology and effects of urban development and evaluation of environmental contaminants on aquatic species.
