Description

The development of utility-scale solar energy in the Desert Southwest brings with it policy concerns over impacts to protected species such as the Mohave Ground Squirrel. Listed by the state of California and identified as a BLM Sensitive Species, the squirrel is threatened by the loss of habitat, habitat degradation, climate change, and displacement by or hybridization with the Round-tailed ground squirrel (RTG).
