Description
Notice of Intent to Award to Sam Houston State University for Identification of Helminths and their Intermediate Hosts at High Latitudes. Objectives: (1) Identify intermediate hosts (i.e., specific aquatic invertebrates) of parasites known to infect hosts in the Alaskan Arctic and subarctic. (2) Evaluate the detection probability of helminths in waterfowl fecal samples to evaluate non-lethal method of helminth sampling. (3) Genetically test fecal samples of marked waterfowl for the presence of previously identified helminths to evaluate potential fitness consequences to hosts of infection.
