Description

The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in developing situational status maps to support emergency response intelligence (ER Intel) activities. The Basin Characterization Model will be used to model will be used to develop a template for a CA statewide webpage with monthly updated situational status maps that will inform emergency response and planning. It will be monthly, reproducible, validated or correlated to local information, and not rely on current conditions of the managed system. It will include estimates of water supply, landscape stress, and fire risk/danger.Specific objectives of this project are:1) Research the relation of live fuel moisture with climatic conditions and patterns2) Develop a method for creating and delivering mapped statewide results3) Create near-realtime fire danger maps4) Collaborate on documentation of results.
