Archived

National Park Service

Description

This study will establish the historical context of the first civil rights movement, produce a baseline survey of both NPS and non-NPS sites in NCR associated with this history, map sites through GIS, evaluate potential NR and NHL sites, and create transfer of knowledge components to share this information with the public. This project will not only produce the historical context of the first civil rights movement, but also show how the issues of the Reconstruction Era â¿¿ civil rights, voting regulations, racial violence, segregated education - persisted throughout the 20th century and are still debated today.
