Description

The objectives of this project are to investigate and characterize environmental and epidemiologic aspects of human monkeypox and to assess clinical intervention strategies in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Special emphasis will be placed on investigating public health interventions to rapidly detect and prevent monkeypox infections and may include development of novel diagnostics, application of improved surveillance methods and evaluation of medical countermeasures. Other priority activities include working with populations with frequent zoonotic animal contact, either with wildlife or laboratory animals, during scientific studies.
