Description

The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to conduct research on â¿¿Validation of Biotic Ligand Model for Nickel and Zinc Based on Toxicity Testing with Natural Waters. The objectives of this research are: 1. to document the sensitivity of the mayfly Neocloeon triangulifer to toxic effects of nickel and zinc, based on chronic toxicity tests with four natural waters with extreme values of parameters known to affect toxicity of metals (pH, hardness, DOC); and 2. to evaluate whether Biotic Ligand Models reliably predict variation in effect concentrations for toxic effects of nickel and zinc to N. triangulifer across a range of water chemistries.
