Description

USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for Collaborative synthesis concerning the development of remote-sensing techniques for groundwater exploration and assessment in drought-stressed regions and the application of these techniques in Ethiopia and Kenya. A focus of this project will be interpreting a variety of remotely-sensed data sets and integrating these results with interpretations of ground-based hydrogeologic information. Funding is intended to support a research scientist and a post-graduate associate who will collaborate with USGS scientists to develop and apply methods for mapping potential for groundwater-resource development. This effort will build on previous work conducted in the Ogaden basin in eastern Ethiopia.
