The activities in this research FOA are designed to fulfill four broad goals: (1) To conduct high quality research around influenza, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, and other public health problems, including non-communicable diseases; (2) To provide training for public health professionals and select staff in basic and applied public health research, public health program planning and evaluation; (3) To strengthen China CDC’s institutional capacity to conduct research, plan, implement and evaluate public health programs, including the capacity to detect and respond to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases; and (4) To incorporate and promote the results of research into operational disease prevention and control programs and policy development.
