Upper Peninsula Piping Plover Monitoring
ArchivedFish and Wildlife Service
Description
This award is to continue critical monitoring activities for the endangered Great Lakes Piping Plover population. This is a notice of intent to award a single source grant agreement to Lake Superior State University without competition under justification 505DM 2.14B, 2 and 4. Competition is not practical as Lake Superior State University has been conducting the monitoring activities in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for many years and is uniquely qualified to continue this activity. They are located locally in the eastern Upper Peninsula near where many of the plovers nest and they have the experience and unique expertise to continue to carry out these activities in the most efficient manner that provides the greatest benefit to the plovers.
