Description

The U.S. Consulate General Public Affairs Section in Kolkata is soliciting proposals for a grant/cooperative agreement that meets the specifications stated in Section II from legally-recognized non-profit, non-governmental organizations that meet U.S. and Indian technical and legal requirements to develop and implement public diplomacy programs as specified by Section II below. Information about the Public Affairs Section can be found at: https://in.usembassy.gov/embassy-consulates/kolkata/ Background: The U.S. Consulate General strongly supports initiatives that promote education and higher education opportunities in the United States. The 2016 Open Doors Report indicated that around 166,000 Indian students are studying at U.S. colleges and universities, a 33 percent increase from the previous year. The students overall economic contribution to the U.S. is $5 billion in economic activity and supports around 66,000 American jobs. Program Goals: The goals of this funding opportunity are to:1. Encourage more Indian students to consider higher education opportunities in the United States by promoting EducationUSA and engaging U.S. university alumni in the east and northeast India region.2. Strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India through exchanges of information, experiences and expertise.
