Description

Two youth with education in archeology will be employed to complete emergency stabilization treatment of archeological sites on Great Smoky Mountain lands within the perimeters of the 2016 Chimney Tops Two and Cobbly Knob fires. Work is intended to mitigate the adverse effect to cultural resources and/or loss of cultural information. Work will include initial assessment of each site to determine the appropriate stabilization measures to be taken. Stabilization measures are anticipated to include removal of fire-killed trees, seeding areas with park approved seed mix, and scattering of woody debris/organic material at sites with steep slopes.
