IIRA applications may focus on any phase of research from basic through translational. Permitted research includes preclinical studies in animal models, research with human subjects, or human anatomical substances, as well as correlative studies associated with an existing clinical trial. Clinical trials are not allowed under this funding opportunity. As stated in Section II.H.2.c., Withdrawal, of the Program Announcement, applications including a clinical trial as any part of the application will be administratively withdrawn.
